Hi Seadragon community!

Are you looking for an opportunity to be involved in Southshore PTSA's fundraising efforts? The Southshore PTSA does all of its fundraising in collaboration with our district's 16 neighboring elementary and middle schools. Together we make up the Southeast Seattle Schools Fundraising Alliance (SESSFA)! More than simply a fundraising effort, SESSFA focuses on equitably sharing resources and sjoin-sessfa-movement-get-involved-in-southeast-seattle-schools-fundraising-alliance-sessfatrengthening relationships across schools for the benefit of all 6,600 students in SE Seattle. SESSFA is run entirely by volunteers from each school and we welcome new volunteers from our community! If you're interested in learning more about SESSFA or how to get involved, please connect with me and/or find other parents on 8:30-10am on October 7that the Othello Park Playground for SESSFA Coffee in the Park. Flyer attached. Some examples of volunteer opportunities include helping with business outreach, social media, planning our spring move-a-thon event, opportunities for advocacy, and help with translating and interpreting. There are many opportunities to be involved! Best, Amy Epp Southshore PTSA Vice President Parent to a Southshore 3rd grader

Did you know 70 percent of students say they witness bullying regularly at school? October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and I wanted to introduce you to Committee for Children’s Captain Compassion® bullying prevention campaign.

Captain Compassion is a bullying prevention superhero who helps families and educators communicate with kids about how to recognize, report, and refuse bullying.

Read this week's comic: (Our Web platform is having an issue, come back later if the comic is not showing, or click here: www.captaincompassion.org )

The Captain Compassion website is home to approachable, research-based tips and tactics drawn from Committee for Children’s decades of work in the field of bullying prevention. It includes engaging comics, videos, and family resources that provide kids and adults with tools to address a range of bullying scenarios. The campaign empowers everyone to activate their upstander power to help stop bullying.

Join in the support of bullying prevention by checking out CaptainCompassion.org and sharing the campaign with your friends and colleagues.
