Volunteer Needs for this Week | Dec 12-16

We've almost made it to the end of 2022! As school winds down before break and we look ahead to the new year, please take a minute to consider a a few opportunities to support our school community this week and beyond:

  • Tuesday, December 13th, 4-8:30 PM @ South Shore Rotunda - Lend a helping hand at the South Shore Black Cookbook Literacy Event: African American and continental African families will come together and write their favorite black recipes, they will create artwork for the book. Roles include Greeters, Set up/Clean up, Readers, and more! Let us know you are coming by signing up here and select a role for the evening here. Send any questions to Dione Johnson at dcjohnson@seattleschools.org.

  • THIS WEEK, December 12th-16th, times vary @ South Shore Art Room - Art Class Support: Help in Art class for the day! Help distribute supplies, support our creative students, and clean up when class is over. Sign in at the front office and connect with Mr. Horner in the Art Room. Current SPS Volunteer Application required. Sign up here if you have volunteered previously or here if it is your first time.

  • Thursdays, 2:25-4 @ South Shore Library - Lego Club Chaperone: Supervision of students playing at Lego club. Please sign in at the front desk upon arrival at the school and the program will be in the Library. SPS background check required. Sign up here if you have volunteered previously or here if it is your first time.

  • PTSA Nominating Committee - The Parent Teacher Student Association at South Shore seeks to be representative of our community and we need YOU to help us identify next year's PTSA leaders. Volunteer by yourself or join with a friend. This commitment will begin in January and can be completed remotely. Email volunteer@southshoreptsa.com if you are interested in helping (or know someone who you think would be a good fit!)

  • Thursdays, 2:25-4:30 @ South Shore and Rainier Beach Pool - Sea Dragon Swim chaperone: Help support the swim program, currently providing free and accessible swim lessons to 4th-8th grade students. We need volunteers to help make this program possible in 2023! Sign up here if you have volunteered previously or here if it is your first time.

  • Interested in other ways of supporting our South Shore community? Other opportunities include Staff Appreciation, Cultural Events, PTSA Communications, and more. Let us know what you are interested in here.

As always, we appreciate you so much whether you are able to contribute your time now or not. Please reply to this email should you not wish to receive similar emails in the future.

Thank you!
