Ms. Karbula's Project

The majority of my students have experienced significant trauma in their lives, and the classroom is a place for them to feel safe and loved. At South Shore, we focus on social emotional learning and growing the whole child. Teaching students how to self-regulate is crucial for getting them back on track for learning.

As a trauma informed classroom, we will be using multiple tools and strategies to help students cope with their emotional responses. These include books, fidgets, sensory tools, and targeted calming strategies. Teaching students to regulate their feelings is a lifelong skill, and the strategies they learn now will help them become better students and better people for the rest of their lives!
